Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Construction Quality Control Manager (CQCM) to lead quality assurance initiatives across federal construction projects. This critical role ensures all construction activities meet stringent contract specifications, regulatory standards, and safety requirements. The CQCM will serve as the quality champion, overseeing inspection processes, managing compliance documentation, and fostering excellence throughout the project lifecycle.
The ideal candidate brings 5-10 years of federal construction quality control experience, relevant certifications, and exceptional leadership capabilities. This position offers the opportunity to shape quality standards on significant infrastructure projects while mentoring teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Core Responsibilities

Quality Control Leadership & Management

Direct comprehensive quality control processes across multiple federal construction projects, ensuring strict adherence to contract specifications and industry standards

Establish clear quality expectations through preparatory, initial, and follow-up meetings for each definable feature of work

Provide strategic guidance to project teams and subcontractors, maintaining consistent quality standards throughout all project phases

Champion a culture of excellence and continuous improvement across all construction activities

Documentation & Compliance Management

Develop, maintain, and update critical project documentation including submittal logs, quality control reports, and progress tracking systems

Conduct thorough reviews of shop drawings and submittals to ensure specification compliance, collaborating with technical teams as needed

Lead weekly quality control meetings, documenting proceedings and action items per contract requirements

Generate comprehensive daily QC reports verifying work compliance and tracking non-conformance resolution

Inspection & Testing Oversight

Execute systematic quality control inspections to verify adherence to project specifications and standards

Oversee proper material handling, storage, and utilization on-site, ensuring all materials meet required specifications

Manage testing and commissioning of building systems, maintaining detailed documentation and contract compliance

Conduct specialized quality control testing aligned with company best practices and contract specifications

Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication

Partner closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and subcontractors to maintain unified quality expectations

Facilitate clear communication across project teams, proactively addressing quality, compliance, and safety concerns

Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing enhanced quality practices

Mentor and train junior staff in quality control methodologies and best practices

Required Qualifications/ Experience Requirements

5-10 years of minimum construction quality control experience with specific focus on federal projects

Demonstrated expertise in general building construction encompassing diverse materials, methods, and techniques

Proven track record of managing quality control processes on complex, multi-phase construction projects

Experience working with federal contracting requirements and compliance standards

Education & Certifications

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers “Construction Quality Management for Contractors” Certification

High school diploma required (combination of relevant certifications and experience considered)

Safety certifications (OSHA 30-Hour, etc.) strongly preferred

Additional construction-related certifications valued

Technical Competencies

Comprehensive knowledge of construction contracts, including subcontract and specification analysis

Expert ability to identify non-conformances and implement effective corrective action protocols

Proficiency in construction documentation systems and quality management software

Strong understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and federal construction standards

Leadership & Communication Skills

Exceptional organizational abilities with proven capability to manage multiple concurrent tasks

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for diverse stakeholder engagement

Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence and guide cross-functional teams

Mentoring and training capabilities for developing junior quality control staff

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

Field-based position requiring extensive time on active construction sites

Ability to walk, stand, and navigate construction sites for extended periods in various weather conditions

Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in challenging environmental conditions

Willingness to work in outdoor environments including extreme temperatures and inclement weather

Must maintain mobility to access all areas of construction sites including elevated and confined spaces
