Position Summary

The Senior Estimator leads all aspects of the estimating process, including scope development, quantity take-offs, proposal preparation, subcontractor coordination, and pre-construction planning for commercial construction projects up to $50M. This role requires site visits, mentoring junior staff, and strong collaboration with project and operations teams.



Key Responsibilities

Develop detailed scopes of work and bid packages for multiple concurrent projects.

Review design narratives and collaborate with design teams on design-build pursuits.

Conduct accurate quantity take-offs and develop pricing estimates, including self-perform work.

Lead pre-construction planning and estimate coordination with project teams.

Manage and communicate with subcontractors: scope reviews, Q&A, negotiations, and proposal evaluations.

Prepare and submit detailed bid proposals and support bid-day activities.

Attend job site visits, pre-proposal, and design meetings; assess site conditions.

Identify scope gaps and design issues through analytical document reviews and RFIs.

Prepare pre-construction submittals, such as transmittals, product data, samples, and registers.

Provide research support for suppliers, subcontractors, and project requirements.

Mentor junior estimators and assist in training efforts with the Chief Estimator and Director of Operations.

Maintain relationships with subcontractors and attend industry networking events.

Organize and manage historical estimate files and documentation.

Assist Project Managers with cost planning, rentals, and purchase orders as needed.



Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Minimum 7 years of relevant estimating experience with a general contractor or subcontractor.

Expertise in reading and interpreting plans, specs, and contract documents.

Knowledge of all major construction trades and systems across Divisions 1–33.

Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and math skills.

Proficient in industry software: Procore, BlueBeam, Excel, OST, RS Means, Building Connected, etc.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and in team environments.

High attention to detail and urgency in meeting deadlines.

Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to pass a background check.

U.S. Citizenship required.



Work Conditions

Local travel for site walks, meetings, and job inspections is required.

Must be physically able to access active construction environments, including elevated surfaces, confined spaces, and varying terrain.
